Stribling Reserve Pavilions Project – We Need Your Support

In April 2019, the announcement was made that the Federal Government through the Building Better Regions fund, was providing $3.3M towards the redevelopment of facilities at Stribling Reserve. This amount was, in turn, matched by a further $3.3M from Surf Coast Shire. This money would be spent on providing the following:

  1. A new, state of the art Netball Pavilion providing separate facilities for home and way teams and umpires with a separate office and lots of storage space.
  2. A new multi-purpose, building which will provide facilities for home and away teams, be it football or any other team sport.  These facilities would be unisex providing for use by women’s teams as well as the current primary use, Lorne Football and Netball Club.
  3. The building will provide for a wide variety of community uses as well.  Community functions, celebrations, school functions, live music.  In fact, any type of community gathering.  The facilities will include Social rooms, Bar and commercial kitchen suitable for gatherings of approximately 240 people.

The new Netball Pavilion was officially opened in early April and is being fully utilised for the 2021 Netball Season.

The Stribling Reserve Project Control Group, comprising representatives of Shire, Stribling Reserve Committee, major users and community representatives, has been working with the Shire, Builders and Architects to finalise the design for the main pavilion. When the new Master Plan for Stribling Reserve was adopted in 2017, the community feedback was that the facility was seen more as a community hub rather than just club rooms for sports teams.

We have worked diligently to reflect that widespread, multi-purpose community usage in the design and the facilities we would like to see incorporated. It will provide new amenities and community meeting and function spaces for all to enjoy. The new pavilion will increase from a single storey to double storey building to accommodate all required spaces and will be a feature and centrepiece of Lorne’s community facilities. The ground floor will include change rooms and amenities for use by the school and LFNC, public toilets, an accessible toilet, an office, first aid/trainers’ room, umpire amenities, storage and a canteen and drinks kiosk. The second storey will include a large social and community meeting and function space capable of hosting events for up to 240 people. It will also include a balcony, kitchen/bar facilities and scorers’ room. The images shown on this page are architect’s renders of what the final pavilion development will look like.

We want to ensure that we have the best possible facility including the quality of the fit out, use of latest technology for audio and video equipment, a kitchen and bar designed to provide the best experience for patrons and even the infrastructure to support musical concerts and performances.

The funding provided by the Federal government and the Shire allows us to develop the basic infrastructure but to deliver the best possible community facility to meet our needs funding from the community is required – We need your help!

To this end, we have established a community fundraising campaign to allow for members of our community to donate to this project and have that donation tax deductible.

The fund-raising program has been set up through Australian Sports Foundation which provides a system to enable ease of use to donate and full transparency and accountability in managing funds.
